Refund Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-19
This Refund Policy explains how and when you can request a refund for a CodeNocturne Pro subscription. Refund paths differ depending on where you bought. Please find the section that matches your purchase channel below.
Short version.
Website checkout (Paddle): 14-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee on your first paid charge.
Mac App Store (Apple): all refunds are decided by Apple under their published refund policy. Request a refund via reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue App Store refunds ourselves, but we’ll help where we can.
1. Two Purchase Channels, Two Refund Paths
CodeNocturne is sold through two distinct channels:
- Website checkout — billed by Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), our merchant of record for direct subscriptions purchased from codenocturne.app. You will find a Paddle order ID and a Paddle receipt in your email.
- Mac App Store — sold by Apple as the seller of record for in-app purchases on macOS. You will find the charge on your Apple ID billing history and a receipt from Apple.
How to tell which channel applies to your purchase: check the sender of your receipt. If it’s from paddle.net, see Section 2. If it’s from Apple, see Section 3.
2. Refunds for Website / Paddle Purchases
2.1 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee
If you bought a CodeNocturne Pro subscription through our website and are not satisfied for any reason, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your first paid charge. This applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions, and to both standard and Early Adopter pricing tiers.
The 14-day refund clock starts when Paddle successfully processes your first paid charge — typically the day your 14-day free trial ends and you convert to a paying customer.
2.2 How to Request a Paddle Refund
Email support@codenocturne.app with:
- The email address you used at checkout
- Your Paddle order ID or transaction reference
- (Optional) A short note on what didn’t work for you
We review every request within two business days and confirm the outcome by email. We do not require a reason — within the 14-day window, the refund is automatic.
2.3 Processing and Timing (Paddle)
Refunds are issued by Paddle back to the original payment method. Typical timelines: 5 to 10 business days for credit cards, usually within 24 hours for PayPal, and provider-dependent for local payment methods. Paddle indicates the expected window in your refund confirmation email.
Refunds are returned in the currency you were originally charged. Exchange-rate losses between purchase and refund are determined by your bank or payment provider and are outside our control.
2.4 Cancellation vs. Refund (Paddle)
These are different actions:
- Cancellation — stops the next renewal. You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period. No money changes hands. Cancel anytime through the Paddle subscription management link in your receipt email or by emailing support@codenocturne.app.
- Refund — returns money already charged. Only available within the 14-day window described above.
2.5 Annual Paddle Subscriptions
Annual subscriptions are eligible for a full refund within 14 days of the initial paid charge, on the same terms as monthly subscriptions. After the 14-day window, annual subscriptions are non-refundable for the remaining months, but you may cancel at any time to prevent the subscription from auto-renewing the following year. We send a reminder email approximately 7 days before any annual renewal.
2.6 Paddle as Merchant of Record
Paddle is the seller of record for every CodeNocturne website transaction. Paddle handles billing, taxes (VAT, GST, US sales tax), invoicing, and the technical processing of refunds. CodeNocturne sets this Refund Policy, and Paddle executes refunds in accordance with it.
If, after contacting us, you are unable to reach a resolution, you may also contact Paddle directly at paddle.net. Paddle’s own buyer terms are available at paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.
2.7 Chargebacks (Paddle)
Please contact us before initiating a chargeback. Almost every legitimate refund request that arrives within the 14-day window is resolved same-week by email — no chargeback needed. Initiating a chargeback bypasses our refund process and may result in account suspension pending resolution with Paddle and your card issuer.
3. Refunds for Mac App Store Purchases
3.1 Apple Decides App Store Refunds
If you purchased CodeNocturne Pro through the Mac App Store, Apple is the seller of record. Refund eligibility, processing, and approval are entirely at Apple’s discretion under Apple’s published refund policy and applicable consumer law in your country. CodeNocturne cannot directly issue refunds for App Store purchases.
3.2 How to Request an App Store Refund
To request a refund for an App Store purchase:
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID used for the purchase.
- Find the CodeNocturne subscription charge and select Report a Problem → Request a refund.
- Pick the reason that best fits your situation and submit.
Apple typically responds within 24–48 hours. If approved, the refund is credited by Apple back to your original payment method on Apple’s timeline.
3.3 EU/UK Statutory Cooling-Off (App Store)
Consumers in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with a statutory cooling-off period have a guaranteed 14-day right to withdraw from a digital-services purchase. For App Store transactions, this right is administered by Apple at checkout and through the refund flow described above.
3.4 Cancellation vs. Refund (App Store)
These are different actions:
- Cancellation — stops the next renewal. Cancel anytime from System Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions (or App Store → Account → Subscriptions). You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period. Apple does not charge a fee for cancellation.
- Refund — returns money already charged. Available only via reportaproblem.apple.com.
3.5 We Can Help
While we can’t process App Store refunds ourselves, we will help where we can. If a refund is denied and you believe the denial was unjust, email support@codenocturne.app with your Apple receipt and we will write to Apple on your behalf. We can’t guarantee a different outcome — Apple has the final word — but we’ll advocate.
4. Auto-Renewal (Both Channels)
Pro subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current rate for your plan, unless you cancel. Early Adopter pricing, where offered, remains locked at the original rate as long as the subscription stays active and uninterrupted, regardless of channel.
- Paddle subscriptions — manage via the Paddle subscription link in your receipt email or by contacting us.
- App Store subscriptions — manage via System Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions.
5. Eligibility and Exclusions
For both channels, refunds may be declined in cases of:
- Repeated refund requests from the same customer or device across multiple purchases (refund abuse);
- Accounts found to be in violation of our Terms of Use, including license sharing, reverse engineering, or unauthorized redistribution of CodeNocturne;
- For Paddle purchases: charges more than 14 days old.
- For App Store purchases: decisions made by Apple under their refund policy. We do not override Apple’s decisions.
6. Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any statutory rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence — for example, EU/UK cooling-off rights for digital services. Where applicable, our 14-day Paddle guarantee meets or exceeds those statutory rights for direct purchases; Apple administers equivalent rights for App Store purchases.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that purchase; we do not retroactively narrow refund rights.
8. Contact
Refund questions and requests: support@codenocturne.app. When emailing, please tell us which channel you bought through so we can route your request correctly.
